The Midex Year in Review – plus a sneak peak into 2019 time management solutions

The Midex 2018 Year in Review

As the calendar year comes to an end, we celebrate another successful year at Midex Software and we continue to be thankful for the support of our valued customers.

In our ongoing effort to provide the best time management solutions and a high level of customer service, we look forward to 2019 and reflect on the last 12 months.

The year was not without its challenges. Our number one priority was migrating Midex Time Control to version 3 without interrupting service to clients. Our previous version was designed using Microsoft’s Silverlight, a platform that Firefox, Google Chrome and other browsers stopped supporting – forcing customers to rely only on Internet Explorer. Furthermore, Silverlight was never supported by mobile and most tablet devices.

Creating a More Robust Time and Attendance Solution

We knew customers needed a solution that would run on all browsers, on any operating system and on any device, including tablets and mobiles.

In 2017 we started to develop a new user interface for Midex Time Control using AngularJS as a backend platform. AngularJS is a JavaScript-based, open-source front-end web application framework that addresses many of the obstacles encountered when developing single-page applications.

The challenge was finding a way to run both versions at the same time, giving customers the flexibility to use either version, until the new version was ready.

Midex Time Control v.3 was launched at the end of 2017 and we spent the better half of 2018 collecting feedback from our clients. Thanks to that feedback, version 2 was discontinued in October.

The Midex client base doubled in 2018 and with more clients using our system we focused on improving performance. Between upgrading our servers and releasing software updates, we were able to increase application response time on the front end as well as on the back end.

We also implemented several new features based on client feedback. Users can now conveniently update schedules and PTO directly from the attendance window. Plus, now all users’ preferences can be saved letting any user login from any computer, providing a better overall user cross-platform experience.

For companies with many employee shifts, anew schedule view was added that lets users create a more flexible schedule as well as an automatic PTO calculation feature that shows users how many hours of PTO have already been scheduled and how many hours remain.

We even introduced an Employee Portal, so employees can easily punch in using any browser and view their own schedule and time card. There’s also a new Geo Location tracking function that lets employers see when and from where employees are punching in or out.

Our newer time clocks can now be linked to Midex Time Control directly, so employee registrations can be viewed in real-time and all employees are automatically synchronized between Midex Time Control and all-time clocks. For customers with their own Time and Attendance software looking to integrate time clocks with their system, we also developed a new product called TimeClock Web, featuring user and time synchronization, a welcome function according to our feedback.

Moving Forward in the New Year

As we look towards 2019 our priority continues to be attentive to our customers’ needs. We value our clients’feedback and will use it as the driving force to improve and enhance Midex Time Control.

One common request we will be working towards is to further develop the Employee Portal, so employees can view their time cards, request Paid Time Off, and request Schedule Changes and we will continue adding new reports and exports.

And, of course our goal is not just to add features to Midex Time Control, but to ensure that the program runs smoothly and efficiently so our customers get the best time and attendance software solution experience possible.
